SLOW COOKER: SPICY CHILI(click here to print)


SPICY CHILI



Ideal Slow Cooker size...4 quart
1/2 lb. sausage, either cut in thin slices or removed from casings
1/2 pound ground chuck
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
1/4 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup chopped green peppers
1 cup salsa(Hot or Medium)
16 oz. can tomato paste
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. basil


brown sausage, ground beef, and onion in deep skillet. Add mushrooms celery and green peppers. Continue cooking then drain.  Add remaining ingredients. Pour into slow cooker. Cover. Cook on high for 2 to 3 hours.
Serves 4  10 carbs
TIP: for variation add any or all of...1 tsp. chili powder, 1 tsp. ground cumin, 15 oz.  2 cloves garlic, smashed
